The concept behind this already second portrait with a historical masterpiece background is to repaint the history with real women who bear a strong empathy and dedication for causes that matter, especially regarding the oppression and violation of human rights. Girl with a pearl in its original version was a random unknown white girl. Waris is black and that adds up to the concept of giving all people their place and significance in history, which is missing from the old masterpieces.
