Polychrome compositions

My polychrome works explore the dialogue between geometry and color, where circles, semicircles, and spheres are arranged into abstract rhythms of contrast and harmony. Unlike the monochrome pieces, these compositions embrace chromatic intensity: cobalt, vermilion, ivory, berry-black, etc. Each piece is a meditation on balance between rigor and play, movement and stillness, structure and feeling.

The Unicorner Series
The Unicorner artworks take their name from the way each steel composition leans toward a single corner of the canvas. This slight asymmetry creates balance through displacement, as if the weight of the form were gently resting in one place while leaving the rest of the surface open to breathe. Within this simple rule, color and geometry unfold in endless variations—semicircles, contrasts, harmonies—each one shaped by its dialogue between form, corner, and space.

Marine Unicorner (2022)

/80 x 60 x 5 cm, 1000 industrial nails, acrylic coating/

Part of the Unicorner series, Marine Unicorner unfolds as an interplay of geometric shapes: semicircles set against a bright gumball-blue ground, with a cobalt steel composition layered above. It carries the clarity of geometry while evoking the depth of marine tones.

Vanilla Latte Unicorner (2022)

/80 × 60 × 5 cm, 960 industrial nails, acrylic coating/

In Vanilla Latte Unicorner, ivory and soft coffee hues merge into a composition of intertwined semicircles. The geometry is precise, yet the palette lends warmth and calm, turning abstraction into something almost domestic, a quiet presence in space.

polychrome composition
Pale Cadmium Unicorner (2022)

/80 × 60 × 5 cm, 960 industrial nails, acrylic coating/

This work sets cadmium red against its pale echo, semicircles completing one another in vibrant tension. The piece plays with the Spanish phrase media naranja, literally “half an orange,” used to mean soulmate. Here, geometry becomes a meditation on union, halves meeting to form a circle of love.

polychrome composition
Elements (2022)

/80 × 60 × 5 cm, 471 industrial nails, acrylic coating/

Elements arranges eight semicircles over a carbon-black ground, each one carrying a different essence: water (cobalt blue), air (light blue), earth (sand beige), fire (red), love (pale cadmium), light (raw steel), harmony (milk coffee), and purity (white). Together, they form a chromatic pattern of forces that shape both life and art.

Dynamic Spheres I (2023)

/80 × 80 × 5 cm, 1,264 industrial nails, acrylic and chrome coating/

Circles expand into spheres, scattering across the canvas in motion. Dynamic Spheres I is an abstraction of flight and rhythm, where geometry breaks free of stillness to suggest speed, lightness, and dynamic play.

polychrome composition
Dynamic Spheres II (2023)

/80 × 80 × 5 cm, 1,264 industrial nails, acrylic coating/

Inverse twin to the first, Dynamic Spheres II continues the exploration of movement through repetition and rhythm. Each sphere becomes a point of energy, a node of balance within a field of motion.

Rain Drop (2023)

/80 × 80 × 5 cm, 450 industrial nails, acrylic and chrome coating/

A circle and a triangle merge into a single form: the drop. Coated in chrome, it captures both clarity and reflection, turning simplicity into presence. Rain Drop is minimal, yet carries the full metaphor of water: fragile, necessary, alive.

polychrome composition
Silver Rain (2023)

/80 × 80 × 5 cm, 655 industrial nails, acrylic and chrome coating/

Expanding the motif of Rain Drop, Silver Rain multiplies drops into a quiet cascade. Circles and triangles form silvery paths, reflecting light with every angle. It is both an image and a rhythm, a meditation on repetition and flow.

polychrome composition
N• 551 (2023)

/60 × 60 × 5 cm, 551 industrial nails, acrylic coating/

A geometric abstraction shaped from 551 nails. With its layered composition and painted surface, N• 551 is both number and form: ordered, precise, yet open to infinite interpretations.

polychrome composition
N• 512 (2023)

/61 × 50 × 5 cm, 512 industrial nails, acrylic coating/

N• 512 continues the exploration of numerical structures as visual compositions. Here, rhythm, geometry, and chromatic depth converge into a vibrant tactile field.

Composition n.3 (2023)

/61 × 50 × 5 cm, 376 industrial nails, acrylic paint/

Composition n.3 distills geometry into a compact abstraction. Its arrangement balances discipline and spontaneity, embodying the quiet strength of steel made visual.

Composition no.2 (2020)

/80 × 60 × 4 cm, 5,032 industrial nails, acrylic paint/

One of my earlier experiments with geometric abstraction, Composition no.2 layers fields of painted nails in three colors, interrupted by lines of raw steel left uncoated to catch light. Flat yet vivid, it was an early step toward my later reliefs, already searching for light within structure.

polychrome composition
Cobalt Unicorner (2022)

/61 × 50 × 5 cm, 499 industrial nails, acrylic coating/

Cobalt Unicorner adds new intensity to the series: a tricolor composition of cobalt blue, white, and red. Geometry becomes more playful here, crossing into a dialogue of contrasts both sharp and vibrant.

polychrome composition
Berry Unicorner (2022)

/50 × 40 × 5 cm, 387 industrial nails, acrylic coating/

In Berry Unicorner, glossy black nails rise against a matte ivory background. The contrast is tactile as well as visual: smooth against matte, shadow against light, fruit against fabric. The piece is minimal yet lush, carrying the texture of its title.
