A series of three hand-painted 3D steel mosaics.
Female R-Evolution is a trilogy of portraits dedicated to women whose lives embody power, persistence, and transformation. The title itself is a play between two words—revolution and evolution—because these women are both: revolutionaries in their own right, and catalysts for the evolution of culture and society.
Each of them endured trauma that could have silenced them, yet became the very force that propelled their voices outward. Nadia Murad, survivor of ISIS captivity and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, turned her suffering into advocacy for human rights, education, and dignity. Waris Dirie, Somali model and activist, transformed her personal experience into a global fight against female genital mutilation. Hedy Lamarr, once seen only as a Hollywood beauty, revealed herself as an inventor whose pioneering work laid the foundation for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
In the first two works, I placed Nadia and Waris within the frames of Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces—spaces historically closed to women like them. By reconstructing these iconic paintings, I wanted to symbolically return them to history, granting visibility and recognition that transcends race, religion, or origin.
The final piece, Timeless, reverses the gesture. Hedy Lamarr, no longer with us, is not placed into the past but reimagined in the future—as a Marvel heroine. Her beauty and elegance remain, but the focus shifts to her intellect, her innovation, her legacy. In this work, I wanted to affirm that a woman’s greatest power is not how she is seen, but what she creates, what she transforms, and what she leaves behind.
Female R-Evolution is both homage and declaration: a reclaiming of space, a rewriting of history, and a reminder that women’s strength is timeless.
